Meme: Audience Participation
I somehow managed to sunburn my eyelids. IDEK! Who burns their eyelids!? It's very inconvenient. Plus, I have weird tiger-stripe burns down my back where I got distracted while applying suncream. Ouch.
This is an audience participation meme, requiring audience participation *beams*:

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself? Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes office supplies." I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. (Yes, even you people who I know really well). Then post this in your own journal. In return, ask me anything you'd like to know about me and I'll give you an answer.

About you: What do you plan to do when you're done with school?

About me: I am doing Officer Training while I am in Uni (please keep your fingers crossed it doesn't clash with my rugby), and then I'm hoping to sign up to the Army as soon as I graduate. I might take a break before I sign up, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to finance it. I'm pretty much set on joining the Artillery (I want teeth, not tail), but if another corps makes me a better offer... we shall see. ♥

I had no idea you were military bound. I knew you had involvement already but I didn't know you were going to actually join up.
Does your military not work like ours? If you enlisted, get then to pay for school AND go through OCS?

Yeah, I keep trying to escape from being military-bound, but I genuinely can't think of anything I'd like to do more or that would suit me more. I'm not sure I believe in destiny, but I just think the Army is where I'm supposed to be, for a while, if not forever. I like what Fick says about needing to prove himself, I think there's a part of that in me, needing to push myself and see how far I can go.
Our Army will do that for you, but only for the degrees they need. For example, currently, they are low on chefs and engineers, so if you're doing a related degree, they'll pay for you. I'm taking history, which they don't need, so they won't sponsor me through. If I join the Univeristy Officer Training Corps though I get a lot of training and adventure training qualifications for free (I can do my Mountain Leader course through them rather than having to pay for it). They used to pay you, but now they feed you instead. If I joined the Territorial Army, they'd pay me, but I stand a very high chance of being dragged out to a sandy place half-way through my course, and I still have to do the Officer Add-on at the end of it to be commissioned into the Regular Army. It's all very confusing.
