Friday Night Lights

I can never explain why I like this show so much. I love the way its filmed, the way the cameras follow the actors around and the actors improvise most of their lines, so it's the most realistic drama I've ever met. Mostly I love that it makes me cry. The whole idea of never mattering as much as you do in your four years of High School is just horribly sad. Coach and Tammi are the most amazing people, and all the characters are so real! The soundtrack is amazing, the cinematography is beautiful and the story just breaks my heart! Mostly, I love that this show made me go back to school and sort my life out.

(SPOILER FOR THE PILOT!)

day 04 → your favourite book

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

Scout is my kind of heroine, especially given the frequency with which she splits her knuckles open on other people's teeth.

This is one of the few books that I had to study which constant re-reading and over-analysing haven't managed to spoil. I love Scout's journey, and Atticus' calm, and Cal's fierceness. And some of the most beautiful quotes come from this book... And I've just worked out exactly what I meant to write in my exam this morning *headdesk*.

Ironically, I managed to forget every book I've ever read in my exam this morning. That was somewhat entertaining...

And now Cus is damaged and probably won't play against Argentina on the weekend. *sad face*

Ah yes, I *heart* FNL, even though Leverage has kind of supplanted it as my fandom obsession du jour.

And I'm embarrassed to admit, I've never read To Kill a Mockingbird. :( Should really remedy that some time soon.

In fairness, I'm STILL not caught up on FNL, but in my defence I have to go and search it out and wait for it to load and it takes me through an emotional roller-coaster and I just don't have time (story of my life right now). I think you have to have time for FNL, you have to appreciate it. I saw the first season of Leverage and it was good. Have you seen Hustle? They're along the same sort of lines so I think that put me off Leverage a little... Mmm at Chris Kane though!

I have only just read To Kill A Mockingbird. I knew most of the story because it got mentioned so often in English, and it is my kind of book. I tend to find when people tell me to read stuff it takes longer to get around to than it does to read stuff I've sought out myself. It is worth a read though, it's easy to get in to and quite engaging and it works on a number of levels. ♥

Icon snap (nearly)!
