I just turned up for work five minutes late. And then discovered that I'm not on the rota (even through I've been doing this shift every weekend for the past month). Nice to be informed. *headdesk*

Still, a whole afternoon to not write [livejournal.com profile] rounds_of_kink ought to come in useful... Any chance of a beta if I ever get through the Jack/Ianto nightmare that I've signed up for? ♥

I hope you didn't have to drive too far to get to work! (My husband once went into work on a bank holiday. :))

If all you're looking for is a general beta (grammar, proofreading, general logic and story), I can do that. But I can't make any promises on characters, because chances are, I won't know them.

I once got half way to college on a Saturday... and my friend got up at four in the morning thinking it was eight already and was showered and dressed and almost out of the door before he realised. Nah, it was only about ten miles or so, but I get very stressed about running late and I was stuck behind people driving at twenty in sixty zones (actual 20 mph!).

Mostly, I tend to need a beta if I'm writing fic that is more dreamy than logical, just to make sure that everything I've got in my head is actually coming out on the page without being to obvious, so you'd possibly need some knowledge of canon... But thanks so much anyway. My regular beta is working some crazy shifts at the moment, so I might poke Kat and smile very sweetly... Thank you. ♥

No problem. I'm clearly procrastinating on my own writing. Had all kinds of grand plans and so far, I've written a single (really crappy) page. *sigh*

I hate slow drivers too. Just get out of the damn way!

Me either. This fic's due in a week, and when I saw the prompt I had the whole thing playing out in my head, but now that it's actually mine to write, it's not so shiny any more, and I can't get the opening right, so it won't flow. So many pretty ideas end up abandoned just because they won't come out in any sort of logical order.

I just think that 20 on a 60 road is actually ridiculous and it's not like it was an overly windy or pot-holed road either. The trouble is that my car is tiny, so we struggle to get enough power to overtake safely if there's anything else on the road *sighs*

I hear you on both problems, but especially the car. I had to scrap my 2-liter hot hatch (whose rear axle was about to fall off) for a cheap and cheerful 1-liter Yaris. Which is awesome when it comes to tax and insurance, but not so awesome when I only have 500 feet to overtake on a narrow country road.

Ouch! Yup, mine's a 0.8 so I'm in an even worse state. I love her though, she's cheap to run and she gives me everything she has. Plus, I'd probably kill myself if I tried to do half of what I do now in a bigger car. Or on a bike. I'm not allowed a bike *pouts*

By bike you mean motorcycle, yes? If so, I'm not allowed on one either. I had all these grand ideas of taking a motorcycle trip through China with my husband but he put his foot down on that one. Something about me being too flighty or not paying attention or not being careful or something. SO overprotective. :)

Yes. I want a big shiny blue Ducati. But I'm forbidden. By everyone who's ever met me (I saw a bike when I was working and went "Oooh!" and everyone just went "No."). Mostly because I don't get why I'm supposed to slow down for corners. Or anything really.

A bike trip through China sounds cool. Ewan McGregor did a trip all over everywhere from Scotland to Australia (I failed Geography), and that looked really fun to do! ♥

I thought you were supposed to drop it down a gear before the curve and then accelerate through it??? (Of course, I did fail two driving tests (as an adult, after I'd already been driving for 20 years), so maybe I'm not the best driving advice giver!)

Yeah, but generally you're supposed to slow-to-an-appropriate-speed, drop down just before entry and then power out from just before the apex. I forget the slowing part... I failed three times, and some days I do crazy things and wonder how I ever passed at all.
