Nuuuh!

Migrane coming on. Exam tomorrow. Feel like someone buried an iceaxe in my head. *grumbles*

And I missed going to see the new X-Men movie, because my friend's uncle was unexpectedly taken ill and she was all worried about trying to get back in time. I she's OK. Pretty Gambit is pretty though, and I really wanted to see him on a big screen.

So, because I am shallow, I watched the Pilot of Friday Night Lights, which is about American Football. Thankfully, my step brother is quite into American Football at the moment, so I'm sure he can explain all the technical stuff to me. What confuses me most though is the part where they pray before and after each game. I know Texas is a very Christian part of America, but I can't work out if this is an exaggeration or an actual representation or... what.

Also, I managed to sign up for a fic challenge, and the deadline is the end of May, so I started to plot it out while lying in the sun this afternoon. The damn thing is 3,000 words already and I'm only on the second bullet point of plot. *headdesk* Why do I do this to myself.

*sigh* did manage to do something constructive today though:

It's not at all unusual to 'bless' a team before games. Benedictions for sporting events are quite common. Yes, maybe more so in Texas than here in California, other than our private religious schools.

I've not watched the show, although very slashy friends tell me I should so you will most likely enjoy it. Holler if you have questions, I actually know a bit about American Football, for all I'm a girl.

It just caught me by surprise because we don't do anything like that over here (at least not publicly), but I really liked the idea.

Mmm, it does look like a very pretty show...

Oooh, thanks, Pete talked me through it when we were watching one of his films, but it's the cultural side of it that confuses me, which you'd probably know more about anyway. ♥

Another fic challenge?!? On top of that already huge to-do list you showed me? Haha. You're insane.

Sucks you couldn't go see X-men... from the way you kept talking about it, sounded like it was going to be the highlight of your week haha.

Coming to Physics tomorrow? xx

Also note to self: Stop saying "haha" all the time.

Yep, I'm just a masochist really. Nah, most of my stuff lies in folders half-finnished, waiting for me to remember it's there...

Meh, it did make me a little sad, but Danni was needed elsewhere and we can always go see it another day. It can be the highlight of another week. But Luke is not allowed to speak of it, I don't want to be any more spoiled than what I am already! ♥

I had to warn my husband (who is Irish) about the praying when I convinced him to watch the pilot. (He lasted through the second episode before insisting the show is not for him. Boo. His loss.) I'd say it's very much a regional thing, more common in the South and the Midwest than on either of the coasts.

Yeah, it's something we really don't do over here, which is such a shame. I just loved that everyone in the stadium was praying for Street despite having won/lost, because he was more important. Thanks. ♥
