The Sacred
by Stephen Dunn

After the teacher asked if anyone had
a sacred place
and the students fidgeted and shrank

in their chairs, the most serious of them all
said it was his car,
being in it alone, his tape deck playing

things he'd chosen, and others knew the truth
had been spoken
and began speaking about their rooms,

their hiding places, but the car kept coming up,
the car in motion,
music filling it, and sometimes one other person

who understood the bright altar of the dashboard
and how far away
a car could take him from the need

to speak, or to answer, the key
in having a key
and putting it in, and going.

I have this nagging feeling that I was supposed to do something for someone today, but I can't think what it was or for whom. I just hope it wasn't too important, whatever it was...

NGH! I cannot write fic! At all *headdesk*. Even despite all the pretty words in my head.

Anyone want to rec me any anal beads fic to kick the muse into gear?

Once again, I find myself doing maths for fun. Something is wrong with this, maybe I stepped into an alternate universe by accident? I want to live in the Golden Compass Universe, mostly because I'd love a daemon.

Did you ever write something, and then have no idea what to do with it? Usually I get so far through a piece and if it sucks I throw it way, or confine it to the deepest depths of my hard drive just in case I want to get at it years later, but this is kind of… complete but not? It’s saying something, but it wants to say more. I’m pretty sure I should be in charge of the muse, not the muse in charge of me. Or maybe I am actually just crazy.

I have four hours on a train tomorrow! I love trains. I’m going to visit America one day and go on the subway in New York, because the Conductors sound awesome. And you can spend forever on a train in America, whereas here you run out of land… Anyhow, I’m hoping my friends will all sleep on the way back, so I’ve bought a tiny purple notebook (to go with my purple purse, iPod and bag) and maybe the muse will co-operate when it doesn’t have music and fic to scroll through at will.

I’m going to Camden Market on this train, so hopefully they’ll have some nice corsets down there that won’t bankrupt me. Probably a purple one (I’m tempted to go for black, because it goes with everything, but I have such a lot of black stuff). Or a nice Royal Blue *daydreams*. And we’re going to go adventuring in big, scary London Town, so you may never see this little country girl again…

LLAMAS! *ahem*

New List:
  • [livejournal.com profile] rounds_of_kink Prompts! And work out whether necrophilia is allowed when not specifically asked for... Um...

  • Find Beta's for prompts.

  • FNL Meta. Then phone Durham and ask if they will accept meta in place of classroom non-specific essay because someone took non-essay science classes for two years.

  • Find People to go on a Ghost Walk. Because I will be terrified and am therefore not going by myself...

  • Last Episode of FNL. *wibble*. I might cry though, so probably after work is best. *cries*

  • Shopping.

  • Ironing.

  • Swap Shifts with someone. It was never gonna happen, was it?

  • Remove Mother from Llama website. Possibly involving use of retcon.

Seriously though, they have a llama called Dalai...

Back in a melancholy mood (it may have something to do with the weather), so all the fic is going dark and trippy. I like it, but it's not right for any of the stuff Im trying to write just now (except maybe my TW prompt...). I don't know what to do about Torchwood either, since we've all been Jossed with regard to any canon we might have made up for Ianto, and I personally like my version of Ianto's backstory better. Does that make my Ianto AU though? *ponders*
